I realized (after posting) that my last limerick was lacking in problem. The desire to be a witch is not really a big enough problem to instigate action, so I tried a new one. Here it is:

There once was a wombat called Sox
Whose hole had got blocked up with rocks
He pushed and he jiggled
He poked and he wiggled
Then dug himself out like a fox.
 Smiley
Good alliteration and assonance.  Rhythm is great.  Nice!

Jan - you're going to have to narrow it down to FINALISTS before voting....I could spend days (oh wait, I have) reading these over and over!  How many are there, anyway? (and who knows how many more hardt is going to post before July 1)

Whattya think?

First we'll whittle down the repeat offenders...um...creative contestents by voting on all the limerick's by one person. That way, when we get to the final vote, there will be fewer folks involved.

Darn, I was hoping to win with a full frontal assault.

...just be glad I remembered those last four letters...

There once was a Retreater that couldn’t log on
She talked to the help desk till way past dawn
Then she found the pea
Under the Enter key
Now her keyboard is wrapped in Teflon

Because of location, poor Leonard Clay,
couldn't go see the firework display.
Determinedly pyro
he mixed comburents, so
he could still celebrate Independence Day.

When Clara's contact fell into her tea,
She googled "local optometry."
To the doctor she went,
and some money she spent...
Her new eyeballs are something to see!

This is a lot harder than it looks! Here's my attempt:

There was a young skunk whose own scent
Smelled like "eau de Sophia Laurent"
She tried to add odor
With the oil of a motor
But ended up smelling like a gent!
