Hello Erica! Can you please let us know what things your instructor would like you to change? It would help us help you if you'd give us more details!

Thanks and good luck!

Well,im writing about a boy who discovers that a wish he wished came true.A toy dinosaur that comes true. my instructer wants me to play harder on the fantasy aspect. not quite sure how to approach it without changing the whole story because there are a couple of points she liked in the story that id like to try to keep in the revision.

Sometimes, I read other books to get inspired.  Not that I take ideas directly from other books, but look at some of the devices or tricks they used to tell the story.  Or I see what other authors did, and it sparks new ideas for what I would do with that beginning...and I end up in a different place!

Right now, dinosaurs are pretty popular again.  Take a look at books like Tyrannosaurus Dad and transport yourself back to the Jurassic (is that right?) period.  You could also read books about wishes like The Fish Who Could Wish or even classics like The Velveteen Rabbit where a toy comes to life.  Who knows, maybe then new ideas will flow!

The National Geographic hosted a television episode recently (on comcast cable) about a man (who I cannot remember his name right now) who has discovered a new dinosaur in Africa. He has an unexplained gift for finding these dinosaurs. He has found about 3 different species within a certain time frame, and all in the same area. There are also finds in the South Americas. I believe if you look it up on the National Geo's website, you might find some fun facts if you're in to writing about dinosaurs in general. Sara
