SO I had an idea for a ghost story but I can't make it work. I want my character to be half ghost half human. How does that make sense though? It is fantasy a world of possibilities any ideas. Still thinking of plot and stuff some romance and stuff. I was inspited by Jessica Verdays Hollow. Help.

maybe your MCs mom was human and dad was a ghost...
maybe the dad watched the mom from afar~in love w her bc she reminds him of his own lost love and he manifests himself and well...nine months later here comes your MC, half human/ half ghost
idk that was just off the top of my head?

Msybe the Ghost is fighting for her life somehow so she morphs in and out of being a ghost but that may be copycat of something out there.

I have a book at 12,000 words begun with this plot idea (like yours) and I don't know that I'll ever get back to it, but I created a really GOOD half-ghost human.....think about it, it's not hard...:-)
I can't give you more as I may one day want to work on mine, but it does work, trust me.

Ummm did you get this idea from me or did you already start the story a while ago? I just post here to get ideas going maybe I need to stop.I've got tons more up my sleeve anyways. All stored away in Legacys land of thoughts. Hey at least we think alike  Sarah.. You want to collaborate? Just kidding.. I'm working on some other stuff and since your going to make this a story maybe I'll work on my half faerie half dwarf story or who knows what else crazy idea I have to go on next. I think I will post less here though.... That being said love ya Sarah..

No, it was a book I started about two years ago and then I canned it for a bit to work on the one I am trying to finish up. I've only been looking at this site for about 2 months.

Did you start yours two years ago? I always have this idea that there is a "plot fairy" out there who tosses out ideas and waits to see which writer will actually pick it up and work on it. :-)  It always seems weird to me how several writers can come up with the same idea at the same time.

Oh NO! Don't can your idea, I may never get back to mine. :-) It was going so well, I have 5 or 6 chapters, it's on my laptop and I haven't even plugged that in for about 6 months, so I can't recall exactly how much I have. BUT I did the human who turns into a ghost-like creature and it went really well.  He's sort of a Superman type, but he has some limits.  Just don't let your story take place in Philadelphia, that's where mine is and I've worked in a lot of local history and local legends. :-) I also have his parents,  who are ghost themed, I can't tell you anymore w/o giving it away. :-)

Just a note for legacy, mine is NOTHING like this idea I've quoted so if yours is like this...go for it. :-) No romance in mine, it's more sci-fi, fantasy...that's why I canned it, my grand daughter wanted my ghost guy to fall in love with the human girl and I said no, that's not my plot, and she got discouraged and I figured she is just like other teens, so I canned it to think it over. (my grand daughter fell in love with my character and she wanted to see him in a romance) :-)

I was actually going to make it more a romance kind of dark fantasy. It may be alittle like yours but my ideas still have there own whatever flavor. I'm strange I guess. I always have some new idea floating in my head its giving it, plot, good grammar, and internal extrenal conflict that I have trouble with.

Thanks Sarah. I'm kind of busy working on my breathing under water WIP anyways. By the way guys the name has changed.... I need to really focus on that right now and buckle down on it. It has to get done. I just like having fun with new ideas and always to keep my imagination churning. That's me its like a pot of magic in my brain... not to sound conceeded just have lots of ideas.

well, like you I also get lots of really wild ideas. I'll never get to all of them. I have another one I've started up my sleeve too that seems weird but it has a straight ending...another one that sounds sorta sci-fi, but it ends up being well, normal wacko. :-) more horror actually and it's for adults. Its so wild I have few fears of anyone coming up with it. :-)
