Hello Everyone,
I am new to the discussion board, so I am not sure I am even in the right "topic"
I have finished my course "Writing for Children" (Hurray!) and my instructor has recommended me for: Beyond The Basics, Creating and Selling Short stories and Articles. (not sure if this is a good thing or if I perhaps need further help?). Anyways, I did a search on the program and I had noticed other posts....exactly how many courses are there to take?
I noticed there is a course for Writing for Adults and hope to take that course in the near future, but I am curious as to how many courses are available to us.
Any info anyone has would be great!

Hi Kathy,

It's not a crazy question!  There are two advanced courses for children's writing, and one for adults.  The magazine course, which your instructor recommended for you, and the advanced novel course, also for children and teens.  The adult writing course, I believe, comes from the adult writing school affiliated with ICL, and that is...Long Ridge, I think.

There are also a couple of other courses but they are basically 'do-it-yourself' with only intermittent help from an instructor.

Both the magazine and the novel course have specific lessons, just as the basic course does, and you continue to have one-on-one instruction.  If your present instructor recommended you for the short story/article course, she feels that you will do well with it, so if you are interested, you will definitely benefit from it.

Hi Kathy! Congrats on being requested for the Advanced Magazine Course or Beyond the Basics....we all make our own titles for the courses sometimes (that's why I called it Advanced Magazine Course--we may not be able to remember the correct name for the courses) so thats why there seems like a lot of names for them but there really is not. There is one offical name the Institute goes by but we make up a lot of names for them. Sorry for the mix up!
