Recently in one of our threads in general discussion some people asked how they can paste a non link picture to there post. Can you tell us how? I've always wondered how in the world other people do it and others are wondering how to as well. I tryed a copy and paste and that attempt failed.

I see all the balloons and pics of cakes on the birthdays post I'd like to give someone balloons too. Hope someone can explain how to do this for us.
Thanks, Legacy

Okay, I though we had instructions here somewhere, but I can't find them. So...

To post a picture off the internet:
Go to the website with the picture you want to link to. Right-click on it (Mac: control-click) and you should get a menu that includes "copy image location" or "copy image address." Or if you have a PC, I guess you have to go to Properties and copy the URL there (sorry, I'm a Mac, not a PC). Anyhow, go ahead and copy the image location.

Come here and start posting your post the usual way. Above the row of smiley faces on the "post reply" page are some buttons; the second one is Insert Image. Click that, and in your message box here will be [ img ][ /img ], only without the extra spaces I put in so it'd show up once I post this.

Paste your URL that you've saved in between ] and [ so you have something like
[ img ]http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ8_XIKheG-ti0IKRUNSEikkVEKb2qavVqvrWEJ4nGH6E9vyKE&t=1&usg=__CJeb1p49QG2Hwyp2vACUNBgtbVY=[ /img ]

When you post or preview, the image should show up. Some sites don't let you link to them this way, though, so then it won't show up. Try another picture from another site.

Here's the image I was playing with:

This is how we post the birthday cakes and balloons and so on. If you want to post a picture you have on your hard drive, the directions are different. Do you want that, too?

If you want to post an image that is on YOUR computer:

Start a post in the normal way.

Click on the "Additional Options..." arrow to expand and see:

       Notify me of replies.
       Return to this topic.
       Don't use smileys.
Attach: <a text block where the file name will eventually be> <BROWSE>  (more attachments)
Allowed file types: jpg, gif, png
Maximum attachment size allowed: 400 KB, per post: 4

Click the <BROWSE> button.
Find the file on your computer (NOTE: It must be either a jpg, gif, or png, AND it must be smaller than 400KB)
Ok it to attach it and then post like normal.

Thanks Hardt. I did try that but was only able to get it to attach the link, not actually put the photo on the message like some people have done. No biggy. I'll survive...pictureless...but I'll survive! Cry Cry

This is basic html stuff. To post a picture in profiles, there's two words that you have to use [ img ] and [ /img ]

In between those two, you put the url of the picture you want to show up in your post. If you don't have firefox, or you're not registered to Photobucket, you can use imageshack (you don't have to register) to retrieve the url and copy and paste it in between those two tags.

So an example of that would be [ img ] Picture link [ /img ] (Just remember to take out the spaces so your picture will show up! And use a real link, that was just so the site wouldn't erase what I wrote entirely, for some reason it does that XD)

And using a real picture, it should show up in your post, just like this

I actually drew that picture myself, do you like it? LOL
