Hi~ I need to take a leave of absence. I know how to ask for it, I just don't know how far in advance I should ask for it, when it starts and when I should start working again (a.k.a. how do I know when my next assignment is due.)?  Huh? If anyone has done this before, I would love to know how it worked. Thanks. Jo

Jo, you go to the Student Center and there's a place you can click on and ask for a leave of absence.  Smiley

Jo, I hope all is well with you.  Do come back and complete the course.  Will you be leaving us, too, for a time?  Cry

You can use the student center link on the main website.
You can email to student services Counselor_Services@InstituteChildrensLit.com
Or you can call the 800 number.

Any way will get you there and you can ask for one at any point...well ahead of when you need it or right up on when it needs to start. They'll work with whatever you need.

Thanks for the concern. Yes I will most definitely come back. I just didn't want to try to do muddle though a really busy summer job and do the bare minimal work on my assignments. I want to give great attention to my writing and not just left overs. And yes, that means I won't be on here as much either.  Sad

I do still have one question. I went to the e-mail link and requested a leave, but I it has been three days and I haven't heard if I have been granted the leave. Should I just call to confirm? Also how will I know when my instructor will want my next/starting back up assignment? Sorry my questions are badly worded.

Thank you all for your love and support. I feel like you all really care for me and you don't even really know me.  Grin Grin ((Hug))

Jo, if you haven't heard from them, I'd say phone and find out what's going on. You could ask them at the same time when you must have your next assignment in.

It would be fine to call. ICL has one of they most hyperactive spam filters I've ever seen. It's possible they didn't get your email. But they should certainly get your phone call. Also, when you talk to them, they'll tell you the length of the extension (or you can specify) and then your lesson is just due after the leave is over. Your instructor will be informed you're on leave and will be ready to get the assignment whenever you get back...in a way, deadlines don't really come into play.
