lol Yaya, trust me, I understand.  I had to walk to within 2 feet of a 42'' flat screen last night to see the words clear enough in Karakoe.  I really need glasses!

I woke up on my fortieth birthday went to get my book and it hit me. Old eyes....my problem is they are only bad for reading so I don't wear them all the time. In fact my doctor said get those cheap dollar glasses you'll be fine imagine that. Well now I  have to keep a pair in every room cause they get in the way when I am wearing them. So I have them every where and still never handy when I need them.

I am probably going to need to get glasses before my next license.  I don't think I can do the reading test.  I can see signs without a problem, and read when I am close enough, so I wouldn't have to wear them all the time, lol but I HATE glasses.  I was prescribed them once years ago because of migraines.  Could never get use to them, they made me more nauseous than the headaches.

Sandy,

The problem here is, I just got new glasses two weeks ago.  Maybe, if I open my eyes, once in awhile, huh?  Whoo, boy!  Our bodies really betray us as we get older, don't they?  Rude, rude, rude!

Round,

You know, we can say old eyes and old, creaking bodies, but did you ever wonder how Adam and Eve lived to be over nine hundred years old?  I'm beginning to wonder if I'll even make it to eight!  haha

Sandy,

I hear ya'.  Glasses are  w-a-a-a-a-y  not my favorite things.  But when I think of the alternative, it definitely makes me thankful.  I have a mental image of all of us reaching "Old, blind and crippled" at the same time and driving around in little glorified wheelchairs (what are they called?  scooters?)  and everyone on the side of the road, on the Bike Path, going Beep, Beep!  Naturally, since no one can hear, the horns will be useless and since we can't see, the street lights will be useless and, since we're all crippled, we can't even get out and beat up on each other.  Oh, life is sooooo hard, at times.  mmmmmmmm.

I am so sorry to hear that you get migraines.  They are sooo not fun.   Cry

I kind of agree with something Sandy said on another post that our helath and sickness is what we think it is. I am one of those that believes 95% of our illness starts in the head so I keep believing my body healthy. I am going to live to be well over a hundred I just have way to much stuff to write to go before that. lol...My eyes haven't gotten worse so far. I can read without glasses in the sunlight though I have noticed.

That's cool.  Wish I could say that.  I've tried to go by the "think myself healthy" philosophy, but I started out wrong by almost starving to death at eight weeks old.  Of course, the fact that the doctors couldn't figure out why and told my mom that it was all in my head sort of makes me a little cautious about that.  haha.

Hi Round,

Yes, I do believe we can make a lot of things better/worse just by attitude.  I can't help some things, so I have to admit I can't see as well from a distance as I once did, lol my missing the words kinda betray me.  But, I can ignore the aches and pains of getting older, not allowing them to get me down.

I also mentioned I am trying to be as optimistic about things as possible.  Two of the lines of the optimist creed are:

To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.

In that context I can say that I fully understand that there is only one person who can make me happy, mad, sad, or anything else.  And that would be me.

As far as the second line, I try not to even mention any small aches and pains, because if I worry about them I believe it will make me feel worse.

The other part is also not difficult for the the simple reason reason that I believe happiness is always yours to accept and *to me* prosperity is not money, it is feeling rich with the love and life we are living.

That sounds like failure to thrive syndrome Yaya it hits some newborns for some reason but if it was in your head some part of you saw yourself as you are today and said "hey you know what enough of this. I am going to stick aroung for that looks pretty good to me!"

Kindred hearts Sandy! I like how you think.

Actually, Round, it was some kind of stomach problem.  A stranger showed up at our house, one day, with a basketfull of cans of evaporated milk.  We lived in the country, at the time, and she said she just had a feeling that she should come to our house.
While she was there, she witnessed some of the problems that I was going through and she had my Mama mix up some of the milk, half and half with warm water.  She then had her add only a small amount of sugar.  From that bottle on, I didn't have anymore problems with that until years later, when my gangrenous appendix was removed.
I've just had some rather unique health issues.  I hope none of you misunderstand.  As much as I am able, I am active and outgoing.  I've always been blessed with a positive attitude and many friends.  I believe that everything has a reason and some of the health challenges I've faced have only helped me in knowing how people with real problems must feel.  There's nothing like pain to help a person feel true empathy with others.  I am thankful that I have always tried to feel compassion for others.

I've never heard of failure to thrive syndrome.  If it means that a baby spits up enough to make a mess on the ceiling everytime she eats, then I guess that's what I had.  Anyway, I still love to drink the milk and water mixture.  Its quite delicious, really.
