Thanks, everyone.  Your prayers and thoughts are so deeply appreciated.

My daughter's name is Lisanne .  She just remarried in October after being divorced for many years.  She is so happy with her new husband, but her illness is wearing her down.

She is a published writer for adult fiction, and was the sole impetus for me to begin writing for children.  She was also a very highly touted ( probably not the right word) legal assistant for 15 years...she worked for a criminal attorney in Orange Co, CA, and sat second chair in different criminal trials.  She is the only person in California to be allowed to take the CA. Bar Exam without being a lawyer...she passed it on the first try.  I wanted her to go to law school, but she was making $65,000 a year as a paralegal, so she didn't think she wanted the extra schooling and all the headaches of being an actual lawyer.

Lisanne was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis when she was 7, and was in and out of hospitals for the next 6 years.  When she was 13, she went into remission.  Now the drs are saying the MG caused the loss of Gamma Globlin, but even though she has been having lung problems for the last 5 years, it was not diagnosed until right after Christmas.

Pulmonary hypertension can be fatal and often is.  There are meds, oxygen and other treatments, but her lungs are now only at 50% efficiency.  She can no longer work in the legal profession...actually, her drs don't want her working at all, but Social Security refuses to give her disability even with 5 doctors writing to them on her behalf.  Since we live in CA, I guess she is not the right nationality to be given government assistance.

We don't know yet what the outcome will be, but her health is failing, and she is scared.  So I am.

Hi Mikki,

My mother has myasthenia gravis. It's unusual to be diagnosed at such a young age, as your daughter was, I think, isn't it?

Adding my prayers to all the others. May God grant you and your daughter the peace and strength you need to get through this.

Oh Mikki...there are no words...i can't even begin to imagine what you are going through...

I hope that knowing all of us here are praying for Lisanne, and how much we love and care for you, offers the smallest amount of comfort to you.

She has a beautiful name, btw.

Mikki, Lisanne sounds incredible, and so accomplished. I'm terribly sorry about what she is going through right now! Cry You must be so proud of her, and so scared. I'll keep you both in my prayers!

There are times like these that I wish I was able to help out.  Sad

I'm sorry to hear this news, Mikki. I do hope that God does grant you and your daughter strength and the power to keep on believing. Miracles happen. And when God is in the picture, anything can happen. I pray He stays with your daughter and heals her. Keep up the faith! I'll keep you both in my prayers!

Oh Mikki. Your daughter sounds wonderful. I try to stay out of this section because I end up balling and words don't seem to cut it. Know that you are both in my thoughts. Sending you love and hope.

We didn't think my nephew was going to make it when he was born, but after 3 months in the hospital, he pulled through. Now he's bigger and hungrier than his older brother. I should add...he was born with fluid in his lungs and the main valve of his heart is still dodgy. Only time will tell, until then we try to hope for the best and keep going.

Mikki, I've said a prayer for your daughter, Lisanne, and for your family.  I pray she gets better; she sounds like she has a truly wonderful spirit.  May God bless you all.

Mikki,

Be good to yourself.  Take care of you because your child needs you.  Your daughter sounds like she has a stong inner strength which is the biggest part of any battle.  Stay strong.  You have a ton of positive energy coming your way from everyone here.
Keep us posted.

Thank you so much, Patricia, I appreciate everyone on these boards so very much.  And Alice, thanks to you, also.  It's now the 26th, and we've heard nothing back from all the doctors involved.  I have no idea what that means.

Patricia, I haven't seen you on the boards before.  Please come back often...as you can see, this is THE place to come for hugs and support, or a hugs and a big laugh, or hugs and anything in between !
