Hi guys! And gals. It took me awhile to figure out how to post something. Smiley
I have an idea for the idea sparkers: many, many times I'll have an idea for article, magazine story, and novel. I know I'm probably never going to write it, but there are so many great ideas! How about if we put ideas on here for article/magazine stories/veritable kid's novels on here if we think we're never going to get to them?
Most writers would probably feel funny copying someone else's idea, but it could get the juices going, especially if a writer has a writer's block.
Tell me what you think.

Hi John,

Welcome to the boards, glad you figured out how to post.  Make sure to introduce yourself at the top of the boards so people can welcome you Smiley

I think it would be a good idea to some, but I am in the group that would feel wierd using someone elses idea's.  Though, in reality you are always doing that when you look for what they are looking for in a guide in a way.  They will give you basic idea's of what they want.

As far as writers block, it could help, sometimes all you need is to try something new..

Here's my .02 on it. haha  Grin
Everyone, everywhere has ideas. Some are brighter than others and some fizzle and fart.  :Smiley  As my grandma use to say.
I did an author visit for my oldest son's teacher one year. I stayed all day and talked to 5 different classes. Here's the ticket. I pulled an idea from my hat and told them that they had 5 minutes to write a paragraph or two or three, just enough to see if they could 'hook' me... a potential """editor""". Would you believe that although they all had the same idea starter not one had the same story!?! It was such a neat experience. Not just for them, but for me too!!! I took away so much from them and I hope I passed on a bit to them. But it shows you how we differ as writers and the way each of us can and will shape an idea and make it into our own.
Good luck getting jump-started. Whenever I want a nudge (or push), I look in the paper. There is ALWAYS something crazy going on. The main thing to do is keep your eyes and ears open. Be more aware of your surroundings. AND HAVE FUN!!! That's what I like about writing for kids. They love to have fun and are wide open to learning... no matter what they think. haha

Hi John and welcome to the boards! I think your idea sounds ok to some extent, but you should never COPY someone elses work. I find myself having writers block more often than I want to, and it really frustrates me to no end! I would never copy anyone elses work, and I would want to get their permission first before using an idea that was their own. Don't you think?

Many blessings, successes, and happy writing to you always!

Children are my inspiration! I want to be someone to a child, to help them become all that they can be, and be an inspiration to them. I am fulfilling my dream in becoming a children's author. I'm on the ride of my life and I am enjoying every step of the way!

Hi John! I know that I'm a little late, but, welcome to a world of fun and imagination!

Now, I'm of the breed where I feel like I'm copy writing when I use ideas that someone already came up with. It's nothing at all against what you said or your idea! Please don't get me wrong!

I'm a Phantom of the Opera phreak! And, I have the original London Cast recording highlights. In the song "Music of the Night" Phantom sings a line that I use as my motto.
"Open up your mind, let your fantasies unwind!"
That's what I use to get around the "Road block" in my brain.

It's my/your imagination! Just yours! No one can form your ideas for you or make your imagination go in the way that you don't want it to go!

OOPS! I'm a babbling again! Sorry!

John, you came up with that inspiration. It came from your imagination! So, use that inspiration that came from your imagination and use it gladly, knowing that no (no matter how hard they try!) can change it!

John,
I think it is a good idea and welcome to the boards by the way.  I think I am in the group that feel funny using someone elses ideas but when you think about it Tracy is right not one of us is going to write the same thing and after all is said and done it might have nothing to do with the orginal idea.  If you did or can remember assignment 3 I think you had to write a collage of words and get a story from that.  The word I chose to start the web had nothing to do with my story.  Also if the person giving the idea doesn't mind and that is why the idea is put down then they understand someone is going to use it.  Does this make any sense to anyone?

*Rubs chin in a thoughtful way.* Now that you mentioned it, it actually does make sense! It's like when there are story contests and a line has to appear in the story. Such as "I tried not to laugh, but I couldn't help myself!" Something like that!

Thanks for enlightening me, sgray92581!  Grin

Hey, guys and gals! Thanks for responding!

there are so many great ideas! How about if we put ideas on here..?

"...it could help.."

"Good luck getting jump-started. Whenever I want a nudge (or push), I look in the paper."

"I think your idea sounds great! "

"No one can form your ideas for you..."

"...not one of us is going to write the same thing and after all is said and done it might have nothing to do with the orginal idea..if the person giving the idea doesn't mind..."

"it actually does make sense! "

I apologize if I offended you by pulling your comment out of context.
Do most people think this is a good idea? Or should I wait for more input?
Thanks again!

Hi John,

Wecome to the boards.  That sounds like a good idea.  May I be so bold as to drop in a new twist to it?  Actually, John, you gave me the idea.  By taking things out of context, anyone wanting to use this idea could carry it in any number of directions.  Much like the game of "Gossip," simply lean into the boards and borrow bits and pieces from things that are said.  Like Tracey said, no two people will twist any mixture of ideas just exactly the same way ~ ~ ~ even if all of us should accidentally pull exactly the same words out of the hat in exactly the same order.  Sometimes, all I have to do is close my eyes and adjust my position a little bit so I am facing a different direction.  Then, when I open my eyes, I write down the first thing I see.  After doing that for five or six times in a row, I use those words to begin a story.  Its all in great fun and I am constantly amazed at the creations that pop forth.  Another idea is to open a book several times and write the word you point to.  Some people read the Scriptures that way.  I like to write, using that method.  With the boards so filled with miscellany, I'm sure no one will have any difficulty putting words together.  Have fun.   Smiley

StJohn, I'm not offended because you quoted me!  Smiley I really rather don't care!

Keep coming up with great ideas about writing and anything else that would  help others! As the song goes "The World is big, but little people turn it around!"

 Keep it up!  Cool

P.S. Quote me anytime you want to!

Forgive me, Round, but I don't quite understand what you mean by this.  Honestly, I'm not being a wise-acre, here.  I really can't seem to wrap my mind around it.
