It's winter time and after the holidays.  I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on where to observe children, and which age groups are best in those areas.  thanks

Where to observe children...any play place, McDonalds included.
Library, Sunday School, children's events-look in the newspaper, birthday partys, swimming pool, aqarium...

Older kids: food court at the mall (this idea courtesy of our Jan!)

In their natural habitat lol. Just joking! But like Kate said, the mall or food court! A playground maybe for smaller children. An amusement park would be a nice spin on things I'm sure. I observed my 4 year old niece from right inside my own house! It worked out just fine!

I have to second the suggestion about the food court at a mall.  That's where I did mine.  Anywhere you expect to see a lot of kids - if it's warm where you live, consider the playground.  If there is an indoor gathering place, consider that (like an indoor sports and fun center designed for children or families).  What about an ice-skating rink or some other winter sports activity?  The Olympics are starting soon - consider going somewhere that might be having a cool Olympics party for kids or teens.  What about a church youth group?  Library (sometimes they have events for kids).  There will be a traveling zoo in our area next weekend - do you have something like that coming up?

The most important thing is to have fun with this!  Good luck!

The natural history museum one Saturday worked great for me. Kids love dinosaurs.

Actually, an airport waiting area worked well for me... but that was 'cause I had to be there anyhow, obviously!  Grin

I done two sketches.  one at the winter fishing derby in stetson maine and one of my best friends grand kids that i dont know well and she brought them to my place.  she wanted pictures of them and i needed a sketch.  since i take pictures we traded pictures for their time.  but it was all done in a natural setting and the youngest kid fell in love with my chickens.

so sporting events of any kind from fishung derbys to dog sled races , to the typical school sports.  how about a near by lake that has a swimming hole?
a town near me is having a spring fishing event for kids  called get hooked on fishing not drugs!  circus? fairs?    just some ideas from the country side.
