... I feel like I'm expending all my energy on everyone else. Do you know that feeling?

Me too Cat. But, since I'm changing my assignment to a fantasy piece, perhaps I'll finally get my first piece to you all. Undecided

Hey everyone. I was looking over all of the posts for this thread. I feel kind of behind. I really want to start plugging away at this story. I was especially looking over all the plagurism stuff MIkki sent me. I'm so afraid of being sued for plaguriism for something I didn't realize was plagurism.
I googled the title I would like to name this novel and it looked save enough. I'v been so busy with my assignments and short stories I feel like I have left this story behind.

Well I'm on track with my assignments and I think I can work more on this Novel.

Do you want to hear something cute? My just eight year old niece asked me when my book would be available and if it would be sold at Barnes and Noble. Talk about pressure.

I hope someday it does get published but I need to work on plot the grammer will come I know it. I just need to constantly be rereading it and looking to my critique group for guidance. They're all really helpful.

This novel takes lots of time and patience.

Hey guys just wanted to say I haven't stopped working on this Novel. I've now mapped out my synopsis of this entire novel. I noticed today more books on the based in the water are starting to come out I need to get rolling on this Novel. I don't want it to take me five years to write this novel. It needs to be finished by April and ready to submit this SUmmer just has to be or I won't be happy.

Thanks Londy I'm half way there. With this Chapter outline the whole story is mapped out. It has lots of plot twists. Now I'm onto the actual novel itself. I wrote five chapters before I had an outline. My critique group helped with those first five chapters which was very helpful. I'm going to rewrite the chapters and make ajustments based on what my critique group said and the changes I made in my outline. I hope my instructor likes it. I want to submit it to acouple of publishing companies I have in mind that don't require agents and have published unagented work. If that doesn't work then I'll start querying agents. I suppose I could start now if I wanted. It'll take six months probably to hear back and by then this novel is gonna be finito for sure. I'm on a roll. The hardest part will be editing. Thanks for all the ideas everyone. I used a couple of the suggestion you got me.I also got the movie Sea people and the television series Sea Quest which helped a lot.

I may still make changes but the general plot ideas are mapped out. I just have a lot of spam and crud to expell from my story. I actually think I've improved in dealing with plot a lot since my last assignment. Crossing my fingers my bew instructor likes this story and has helpful feedback to give me. The only problem I've been having is I don't know whether to call the water, the sea, the deep end of the ocean or what. It has to have turbulent waves. When I say ocean I think of the beach though any ideas? Ocean works right? I need to find a area to base the story in I was thinking Maine any ideas?

Just a suggestion, but you might want to rethink that.... If you mention in the query letter that the novel isn't finished, that would just get an automatic rejection. If you DON'T mention it, but don't have it ready to send out if they request it, that would reflect badly on you and on the book. Many, many agents and publishers do respond much quicker than six month. Also, you'll probably want to let it sit a bit and then do some revision, after it's done. Just a thought...

But anyhow, conga rats on getting the outline and synopsis done!

Kate I was just getting excited I'm not going to start quering yet. I know how to use my noodle. I was just excited! I'm not planning on querying till this Summer. I need to get all the feedback I can from my instructor and I do want to be prepared with a full Manuscript if by some rare chance someone wants to look at it. I know I should be more optimistic it's just you know I've seen others struggle with querying and I know I'm going to struggle to.

I am studying my the books market guide from ICL and trying to look where I think this story would fit. I have one online home I really want to submit to I know the chances are slim, but my heart tells me I have to.

I still have a long way to go with this novel. I know I'm on a roll now but with editing and more editing and more editing, well that could take a few years. I hope it doesn't. My favorite author and inspiration Alyson Noel said it took her fifteen years to get her first book published.

I know I have so much to learn with grammar/spelling, and plot. I need to try and get more short stories published to so editors see that I have noteworthy credits. Kate I love ya. Just had to say that. Keep writing, Legacy

*giggle* Oh, good! I just didn't wanna see you get into a dilemma by querying before it was done, you know? I'm glad you're so excited about it. I'm in the middle of query-struggling right now, and I gotta say, it's hard to stay excited... but I have a feeling you'll be a whole lot better than I am about that!  Grin  Sorry if I came across grouchy--I'm probably thinking about my own querying....  Undecided

Legacy, your synopsis is really good. I'm excited about your story. I think it's going to be a good 'un. I'm working on my crit of it right now, but I want to give you something really helpful and polished, so you may not get it back until the end of the week, or so... if that's cool with you.

Revision is scary, isn't it!??! But, it's neat, too. Smiley
