I'm feeling a little silly about this, but I have a question about formatting a letter to send in with an assignment. I am getting ready to send in Assignment 2 of the beginning course and my instructor has said she would like a note along with it. Am I correct in assuming that it should be an attachment to the email? AB12345-2A or something similar? Is there a set format I should use or can I just type a letter like I normally would?

After a quick glance, Ellen shoves her OCD Demon into the NaNo closet. There weren't any inner editors in there yet, but that demon will have company soon. Maybe he can nag them for a while!

Sorry, that Demon wouldn't leave me alone until I asked.

Substitute "damn" every time you're inclined to write "very;" your editor will delete it and the writing will be just as it should be.  ~Mark Twain

Sometimes my students put the notes in the email and sometimes it's a separate document. We're actually totally open about format for notes. We just love them so they can look like anything you want. Just be sure to put your name on it in case it falls out of the folder and we spend 20 minutes trying to remember  your name (though that just might only happen to cheese brains like me.)

When you submit email lessons, it's really important that your lesson follow format to a T. For any letters you send along, it's not quite as serious. As Jan said, a lot of students will send their letters in the actual body of the email, but if you want to send it as an attachment, it may be a little more helpful to have your letter saved with your student number-A.
