I tried using the template that is on the student site for assignments, but apparently I have to make some formatting changes.  I just wanted to ask a question so I get it right this time.

1) page 22 of the instruction manual says that there should be 4 lines after the title and before the start of the body of the text.  If you have the formatting set to double-space when you hit enter, should you only hit enter twice after the title (2x double-space)?  That makes it 4 lines, right?  Or not?

2) again, page 22 of the manual - similar question - 4 lines down from the header - if I have the formatting set for double-space when I hit enter, do I hit enter twice or four times?

I think that was the worst of my problems.  I figured out the spacing at the beginning of a new paragraph (I think...)

Thanks for the help and suggestions!

Hi Beth,

Your thinking is right, four lines equals 2 double spaces ... so you only have to hit enter twice if you're set for double space to get the four lines between title and manuscript. I usually put the four extra spaces on page 2+ right into the second page header so that it automatically keeps the manuscript out of the header text.

Thanks, Jan!  I used your suggestion about adding the spaces to the header.  That will make things much easier in the future!

As always, your responses are awesome and so helpful!
