I understand about the word count! Had a hard time myself. Took me a long time to finish assignment 1 and then to try and cut words..auugghhh!!!! I had a hard time making my story flow when cutting words. I finally ended up sending mine over the word count because otherwise it would have been later than it already was! I definitely need practice in that area! Undecided

Hello there
Being new to the word count ticker, I, too went overboard. I took the knife to my story and gave it a nice trim, however, I still ended up in the mid 800's. Crossing my fingers with hope, like you, that, when my Instructor gently or harshly nudges me in the right direction, it'll be easier. Good luck.

Well I am not sure how to post my topics, but, I do know how to reply..lol... glad you got your story finished.

I just got mine back and I am not exactly sure how I did.. The instructor's words are very encouraging and my story was over at 908 word count. I have been mostly writing for adults where you don't show your hand until much later in the stories.

Now I have to learn to start out with a bang and continue at a dead run until I close with an explosive ending. All in about 500-750 words.. I think this is gonna be tuff but oh so much fun.

Well said, Margarett! Yikes, I need to come up with more explosive endings. :Smiley
You're right, though. Not easy, but LOTS of fun! Cheesy

Hi Cheryl.

I'm a new ICL student myself. I enrolled on July 1 and Sheila Foard is my instructor. What do you write about? In fact what was your Assignment 1 story about? How long have you been an student? Who's your instructor?
