Writer's CPR: Jumpstart the Heart of Your Manuscript Workshop
Heart of Dixie is proud to announce Harlequin Editor-at-Large and Book
Doctor Leslie Wainger, author of Writing a Romance Novel for Dummies, as the
headliner for its 2009 Writer's CPR: Jumpstart the Heart of Your Manuscript
Workshop. Registration is now open for the September 26th event held in
Huntsville, AL, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Wainger will be discussing the most common writing mistakes she sees on
submissions and the pros and cons from cold read submissions. Additionally,
local authors Kira Sinclair (Harlequin Blaze) and Lynn Raye Harris
(Harlequin Presents) will uncover the mysteries of creating sexual tension.
Attendees will receive a primer on the submissions process from local author
Kimberly Lang (Mills & Boon Modern Heat). The workshop will wrap up with a
Q&A session featuring a published author panel, including NYT bestsellers
Linda Howard, Beverly Barton, and Linda Winstead Jones.

Cold reads, comprising the first 2 double-spaced pages ONLY of one
manuscript, will be accepted in advance from any registered attendee before
September 1st. The workshop coordinator will then forward them to Leslie
Wainger anonymously and she will choose several to utilize in her workshop.
Submissions will only be taken from REGISTERED attendees and should be
emailed in a .doc or .rtf file to Danniele Worsham at kdworsham@gmail.
