CLASS DESCRIPTION: Down with one-dimensional cartoon-like characters! Down with the two-dimensional ones, while we're at it. Embrace your characters—warts and all—in this lively workshop with Bantam author Linnea Sinclair.

Reviewers note that: "Her characters are intelligent, no-nonsense and have a depth that gives me an instant mental picture..." (Road to Romance Reviews) "I confess to a growing weakness for mature heroines who can present themselves as total equals, matching strengths and vulnerabilities to men with likewise believable and endearing characterizations. And Sinclair succeeds with pizzazz." (Midwest Book Reviews) and "The author's sure hand with characterization makes each twist of this emotionally laden storyline as suspenseful as any well-wrought battle scene." (Science Fiction Weekly)

Sinclair, a retired private detective, will show attendees how she uses police and investigation suspect information sheets to help craft interesting, memorable characters that readers and reviewers will love. She'll help writers dialogue with their characters to bring out information that builds depth and uniqueness. She'll also discuss the pros and cons of using archetypes, astrology and tarot to build story people.

BIO: Winner of the prestigious national book award, the RITA, science fiction romance author Linnea Sinclair has become a name synonymous for high-action, emotionally intense, character-driven novels. Reviewers note that Sinclair's novels "have the wow-factor in spades," earning her accolades from both the science fiction and romance communities. Sinclair's current releases are GAMES OF COMMAND (PEARL Award winner and RITA finalist), THE DOWN HOME ZOMBIE BLUES (PEARL Award Honorable Mention), SHADES OF DARK and HOPE'S FOLLY.
A former news reporter and retired private detective, Sinclair resides in Naples, Florida (winters) and Columbus, Ohio (summers) along with her husband, Robert Bernadino, and their two thoroughly spoiled cats. Readers can find her perched on the third barstool from the left in her Intergalactic Bar and Grille at www.linneasinclair.com.

FORMAT: Course is conducted via online discussion (bulletin) board on the RWA® Online website. Non-chapter members MUST complete both the workshop registration AND the discussion board login registration for access.
