Dani - You'd asked about the novel course. Yes, you complete 3 chapters and a synopsis by the end of the LRWG novel course (in the ICL course you complete the entire novel). There are 8 assignments in the novel course. It is basically broken down like this.
1 - turn in two novel ideas
2 - complete a mc character work sheet and a couple of page action scene that shows your character doing something
3 - write up your plot summary (outline, rough synopsis)
4 - Submit chapter one
5 - Submit chapter two
6 - Submit chapter three
7 - Revise chapter one
8 - Pick a publisher, write a query letter, write a cover letter, write a synopsis, and submit another revised chapter if requested by instructor.
That's the framework. I submitted two chapters for revision as chapter one didn't actually need much work. I also did two character work sheets and action scenes because I write romance so have two mcs. This is the course where I finally "got" synopsis'.

By the end of the course you are supposed to have a polished submission package with your query, cover, synopsis, and first three chapters.
