After all the colors listed, I couldn't recall whether you got these for blue, so I'll list them anyway.

Sapphire blue                                                       Obsidian Black - it shines, sparkles
Peacock blue                                                        Tar - deep, oily, opaque
China blue                                                            Black Opal - contains and reflects other colors
Aquamarine blue
Bleu topaz                                                             Amber yellow - real color - oldest Viennese families carry this colored eye
                                                                           Brandy - deep, mysterious, passionate
Thought these might help.

Very interesting colors.

Now amber I have used with a character, I have also used brown with yellow flecks as well. But I never thought of brandy as a eye color and I am trying to remember what it looks like;something on a deeper rich violet color, isn't it?

Thanks,
Jo

Great list, Clauds. Smiley

I think Brandy is similar to amber but a richer darker color like a redish/brown color but I'm not forsure. Huh?

RC,
I guess I'll google that and see what comes up - or would they show the color Huh?

Here is what I found on Yahoo - just for future reference Cheesy

brandy can be any number of colors but generally it is clear or brown if naturally colored. If you do not age the brandy in wood then it will be clear or very pale colored. This would be true of fruit brandies/eau de vies like framboise or fraise de bois which is a strawberry brandy. Brandies like cognac or calvados or American brandy from grapes are generally aged in wood and picks up the brown color from the barrels like whiskies do.

Jo, I think it depends on what thesaurus you use I know the first one I found on google it didn't come up with colors....so I don't really know  Huh?

Very interesting information, Jo. I'll have to file that away for the future. Smiley

For green eyes I've used Jade Green (a murky green).

Black... letsee... I've used "Dark as a starless night" ... Typically people with "black eyes" are not really black, but the color is so dark you cannot determine it until you are close up. Typically their true eyecolor tends to be dark blue/gray or brown.

This is true of my own eyes.

Typically I don't use one or two words to describe the eye color... I typically use at least a sentence. More than that if their eyes are really interesting. I've done eyes that were catlike... goatlike... the most interesting ones were the ones that had no iris but a huge pupil... dialating and focusing... it was actually a very creepy little monster...

I figure, you only have to really go into detail with a characters eyes once or twice. The rest of the time you can summerize what their eyes would be doing, because if you did the detail right, they should be able to see the eyes in their heads. This is different from other things because a character can typically change their wardrobe, their hair, and even the condition of their bodies but their eyes tend to stay pretty constant.

This is complete opinion, but it's what I write by.

Hhmm? I never gave that part a thought - to me, it has always been just the color. Thank's Kerri for giving me something to pondered when I am describing them Smiley

No problem! ^_^-

It's actually a lot of fun coming up with different  kinds of eyes.

Also, there is a rare condition in which the person's eyes is one blue eye and one green eye. There's also the red eyes of an albino.

^_^- Just figured I'd shoot you some different ideas.

Regarding the color "ice blue", I know you probably shouldn't use it unless your character is cold or mean or the like.
I'm having a hard time myself with this. I know the way your character looks should reflect the personality. Especially with the eyes...
But yeah, like someone mentioned. I always focus on the eyes, too. I dunno why. I just must, unconsciously when I watch someone when I talk to them.

Lol, well you *could* use it anyway.  How's this:

I shivered as I gazed into his ice blue eyes.  How could they look so cold yet cause me to feel so warm at the same time?  When he smiled at me the hardness of ice almost cracked with a sparkle of amusement, and I had to grab on to the counter so he couldn't see my knees go weak.
