When I went to format my first assignment I realized that Microsoft Works Word Processor is apparently outdated. I don't have Microsoft Word and can't afford to buy it right now. However, a cousin told me about a free downloadable program that is compatible with all major market called OpenOffice. Is anyone familiar with this? If so, is there a way you could help me, esp. with the headers. (I'm new to forums, too. Not much experience communicating online.) I would really like to have my second assignment perfect! Thanks Smiley.

I have never used Open Office, but I found this information online with a Google search on "headers" and "Open Office" --

Make sure the stylist is visible (Format|Stylist). Click the "Page Styles"
icon (looks like a page) in the Stylist. Double click on "First Page"  in
the list in the stylist. Then you can do Insert|Header|First Page from the
main menus, and enter the first page specific header information.

And I found these free lessons...

I used OpenOffice for awhile and really liked it.  I thought it was easy to use. Others I talk to seem to hate it.  You can give it a shot.

I don't presently use Open Office, but I have in the past. I also thought it was easy to use and I had no problem formatting or attaching/sending in email.  It worked just fine.

I use microsoft office 2007.  It has taken me a bit to find where things have been moved and new gadgets, but it works pretty well for me.

I just downloaded Open Office today but I haven't used it yet so I have no opinion at present.
