Looks like you didn't really need much help afterall. I hope your assignment comes together just the way you want it now. Smiley

Thanks Chippy, but knowing that others knew I was working on something actually prompts me to complete it ... instead of just putting it on the to-do pile.

And now I have finished the first typed draft (with tons of editing along the way), it is still over the 1500 word count allowed for assignment #1.  My target magazine is Cricket ... which allows up to 2000 words.  Do you think my instructor will give me a word allowance in that case?  The current word count is almost 1700.

Actually I was wondering if anyone of you would like to proof read it for me and give me some insight on what you think?  Because I was using Flash-back instead of chronological story-telling, I may have left out some obvious pieces of info ....  anyone?

Some instructors work pretty close on the word count but the WORST that ever happens is they just don't do a line-by-line mark-up of the last bit...they still talk about the overall story and such. For me, I generally don't even notice unless the person goes over by 1000 words (which does happen.)

really?  A thousand words over???  Okay, that makes me feel better that I'm only 170 150 130 words over.  I still have some editing to do and I might be able to prune a bit more ... I could always hold onto to this one for assignment 2 which does allow up to 2000 words ... and then maybe I can fill in areas that may be lacking ... if there are any (Oh who am I kidding , there will definitely be some weak areas).

Oh but to come up with another story ... hmmm ... there were some stories I had worked on over the summer ... maybe I can pull out one of those ... I just feel like I should have a brand new story for the first assignment.  Does that sound silly?
