I've enjoyed our time this week talking about rejection--and bouncing back from it. These were things I needed reminding of myself! I certainly wish you all the best in your writing and marketing endeavors.  Kiss

I remembered another good book you might want to pick up: WRITE MIND: 299 THINGS WRITERS SHOULD NEVER SAY TO THEMSELVES {AND WHAT THEY SHOULD SAY INSTEAD} by Eric Maisel.

In the end, having a good mind-set will trump nearly everything--including rejection.

I too (As many regulars know) had to eat my own share of crow at times, and again, I'm sorry for this times I misread you, KatieC.

For me, it's easier to forgive others than it is myself, but a little of both is unnecessary for our personal sanity, and for those we work with.

Amen!   I agree...it is hard to forgive ourselves.

They are kind people, and I forgave them quickly because I have definitely said or implied things that I later regretted.

This is why I love it here. Thank you all for your unfailing support!  Kiss

Sorry you had to hear that, KatieC. I've been dealt similar experiences.

I certainly respect those like you, Jan and Kristi who've done work for hire projects, it's NOT easy, and I say that as someone who struggles to make my own ideas work.

Every time I try writing to a strict formula, whatever I'm weak at is only further intensified. My strengths are all but lost in the glaring flaws of not executing the formula well, and that's on top of writing to tight deadlines and the unrelenting mistress that is brevity. Tongue

I get why we have formulas, but there's just a BIG gap sometimes between understanding the formula versus ACTUALLY EXECUTING IT! Embarrassed Sad

Bravo to all who can do it and NOT read boring and slow!

If you're happy with your accomplishments (which are amazing, BTW) that's all that matters. Anyone who isn't happy for you or wants to bring you down is either jealous, selfish, stupid or basically not someone you need as a friend. Just my two cents' worth.
