Hello, and welcome to
the Institute’s
Chat Room and Open Forum page.
I’m
Jan Fields, Web Editor for the Institute and an established
professional in the world of children’s
literature.
Here in the Institute of Children’s Literature’s
Chat Room, you can
ask me questions, discuss the joys and challenges in
your writing life, or just talk to other writers about anything. We
have both scheduled events and free chat time.
Be sure to catch our bimonthly live forums where I’ll answer questions on any writing related topic that’s
of interest to you. These events fall on one Tuesday and one
Friday each month, and last for one hour.
Tuesday Afternoon Forum
begins at 11 AM, Pacific Time; Noon, Mountain Time; 1 PM, Central
Time; 2 PM, Eastern Time; and 3 PM, Atlantic. You are welcome to
join us anytime during this program, so feel free to slip in
even if you miss the beginning of the event. On Tuesday
afternoons when there is no forum, chatters still gather to share
and hang out—so please join in the fun if you can.
On Night Forum Fridays we talk about the questions and issues you are
facing as a writer for children. Night Forum meets one Friday
evening a month for one hour at 6 PM Pacific Time; 7 PM Mountain Time;
8 PM Central Time; 9 PM Eastern Time; and 10 PM Atlantic. On Friday nights when no forum is scheduled, chatters
still drop in just to share and visit.
Or, you may want to visit our Chat Room right now. You’ll find other
writers talking, laughing, and otherwise taking a break from the
loneliness and hard work of writing. So come on in right now and be
sure to say
“hey” to whomever is there—you won’t be interrupting. I try
to pop in as often as I can. I’ll be using my real name—so feel free
to ask me anything or just start up a conversation. I love to chat.
