Do you need to market your book, but speeches make your knees quake? Is some of your “fear of success” wrapped up in the marketing and promotion you might be expected to do? If so, don’t overlook the power of the Internet. Promoting your book via the Internet can be done from the comfort of your home. I gave it a try recently with this video book trailer.

Preview of Coming Attractions

Book trailers, like movie trailers, are to spark interest in your product. In the coming week, I’ll be doing a variety of things with this trailer (created by Misty Taggart, a very talented lady.) Book trailers can be used to promote your book (fiction or nonfiction, adult or juvenile, single title or series) in the following FREE ways and places:

Don’t let a fear of public speaking stop you from pursuing your publication dreams. Book trailers are only one way to promote your books. What are some other ways you’ve seen (or done) that don’t require a public performance? Let’s share some ideas!

  1. HiKristi,
This is awesome! I am excited for you and I want to read this book. I like your marketing and promotion ideas. I recently read RIVEN by Jerry Jenkins and wrote a book review on my blog. However, I need to do a better job of tracking my success because I can’t tell you how much attention I generated. I’ll keep reading your blog to learn more. Thank you for your lessons and encouragement.

  2. Sue, I liked your book review. I met Jerry last year at Mt. Hermon’s Christian Writers Conference–what a nice guy he was/is. I haven’t read RIVEN, but now I want to! I’m not sure how to track success either, actually, other than seeing what happens on my royalty statements. We can learn together!

  3. I really enjoyed your storytelling ways in this video! It leaves you curious enough to read the book! Very memorable :)

May I add one more option to your list above. Try submitting it to http://www.bookscreening.com and youtube.com

I highlight exciting book trailers on Fridays on my blog and I usually browse through those sites. To me it’s the best way to pull a non-reader sometimes. I’ve seen it happen!

  4. Thank you for the tip, Trig. I appreciate it. It’s already on YouTube, but there are a lot of video online places I haven’t even tried yet. A little every day! It’s a whole new way of marketing to me–but I like it so far–especially the “doing it from home” part! 8-)

  6. Karin, it is certainly one of the easiest ways to publicize, and it can be used in so many different ways. While you’re writing your book, keep scenes and art and music in mind that you might want to use for a trailer someday, and then you won’t have to start from scratch.
